With a staggering 76.14 winning percentage while leading Australia in ODIs, Ricky Ponting captained the team 230 times, a world record. His back-to-back World Cup victories in 2003 and 2007 rank as his best ODI performance.
Graeme Smith (53 wins) had the most Test victories (48), but he had 32 fewer leads. Australia won 16 straight games under his direction from December 26, 2005, to January 2, 2008.
He always took the bat first in his role as captain. He set a record for ODI runs scored (8,497) with an average of 42.91. With 6,542 runs at an average of 51.51 in the longest format, he is third on the list.

West Indies dominated international cricket in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and Clive Lloyd served as their captain.
In 1975 and 1979, he was the captain who guided West Indies to World Cup victories. He took the initiative and scored an 85-ball 102 in the 1975 competition's finale. Additionally, he took them to the 1983 World Cup final, where they lost to India and finished as the runners-up.
He had the best ODI winning percentage with a startling 77.71 percent (with a minimum of 30 ODIs). Despite not having the same test results, he only lost 16.21% of his tests, which ranks third best behind Steve Waugh (minimum of 30 Tests).

The best captain of the modern era is probably Steve Waugh. With a record winning percentage of 71.92 in 57 games as Australia's captain, he won 41 Tests. From Oct. 14, 1999, to Feb. 27, 2001, he steered the Kangaroos to a string of 16 victories in a row.

The World Cup was won by Waugh's Australian team in 1999, and his 120 against South Africa during the Super Sixes stage is regarded as one of the greatest World Cup strikes ever.

Given how competitive teams were back then and how slim the margin for error was, his win percentage in ODIs, 65.23, is incredibly impressive.
